“It seems to be human nature: as we become more familiar with something, even something miraculous and awe-inspiring, we lose our sense of awe and treat it as commonplace.” –Dieter Uchtdorf
It’s easy to become blind to all the “miracles” that surround us every day… Like the beauty of the frost on a double-pane window, or the sound of a loved one’s voice half-way across the world, or the warmth of the carpet under your feet as you rise from your bed to walk across the room.
We are surrounded by technology and modern-day wonders that began with a simple thought. We are able to travel at the speed of sound and communicate with one another at the speed of light. Information is only as far away as a search on Google. We live each day in a delicate eco-system of life that supplies our every need and provides us with comfort and endless opportunity.
When we begin to notice the miracles in the common things around us, something within us is rekindled. Our childlike wonder awakens and life takes on fresh new meaning and vibrancy.
As we prepare for and celebrate this Holiday Season, let’s slow down and pay attention to the many every-day “miracles” surrounding us that brighten our life and make it sweeter.
Happy Holidays!
